For the two people that actually read this very occasional semi-annual family blog, I would like to direct you to a new theological blog that I'm (Chris) now blogging on with some of my friends and fellow pastors from ARBCA. There are daily posts (except on the Lord's Day) and my day to post is Tuesdays.

Abigail Elizabeth Powell
Dear All,
In the Lord's great grace and providence, Abigail Elizabeth Powell was born at 11:57 AM, May 5th 2009 weighing in at 9lbs. 14 oz. Mom and baby are doing well. Because of the speed with which Val responded to the oxytocin there was no time for an epidural - it was all natural. Val did very well and I'm so thankful for her and our new daughter.
Please join us in giving thanks to God for His grace in preserving and bringing this beautiful baby girl into the world. Pictures will follow when a better internet connection is possible.
Psalm 113:1,9
"Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD! He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the LORD!"
In His amazing grace,
Chris, Val, Hannah, Noah and Abigail Elizabeth.

We're here....
Just a quick update as we wait for the next stage. We arrived and all has gone according to schedule. We are now in the birthing ward on the fourth floor. Val's veins are being stubborn as usual and so we are waiting for the special IV nurse (after two other nurses had trouble) to get her IV hooked up. Val's doctor broke her membranes at 8 AM and now we're waiting for the next stage of early labour. She's about 3-4 cm dilated and 50% effaced for those who know what that means.

She's coming.... soon
Just one more day till she's here. We're eagerly anticipating the arrival of baby Abby tomorrow. Today the family is going to spend some time together. We're going to go and buy Hannah an inflatable pool! She's VERY excited. For Noah we're going to spend some time outside which is pretty much what he loves - running around outside. The joys of being two. We hope to visit the Rouge Park with the children and enjoy a nice family lunch together.
Tomorrow we go in at 7 AM to the Hospital for the induction. We appreciate your prayers.
Love,
Chris on behalf of the family.

My annual post ;-)
O.k., so I've been far from regular in posting on our blog. Were it not for my dear husband, I'm quite certain I would have forgotten we even had a blog. I visited it today for the first time in months, and found some of our more recent photos posted that I hadn't even seen yet. So, it turns out the blog is also a good way for me to keep myself updated on my own family ;-) I'll have to visit more frequently.
My memory, though poor, is serving me well enough that I can recall what the impetus was for creating the blog: the birth of Noah. And I will predict right now that the blog will get much more regular updates in the not so distant future for a similar reason....yes, as many of you know, our third child will be here before we know it. I have been officially scheduled to be induced on May 5th, so just over three months left to go, and our new baby girl will arrive. It's hard to imagine that I'll be the mother of three, ages 3, 17 months and newborn, as of that day. Just seeing that in a sentence makes me nervous....but excited at the same time. On the days when two kids seem to be more than a handful, I do wonder how I'm going to handle it, but I know that the grace of God is sufficient, and He will equip us as He always has. Amen!
So now I'm going to enjoy a little bit of peace during nap time, and I'll hope that my prediction will stand: Even if there are no posts between now and May, you can likely expect an hour-by-hour report on the day of our daughter's birth, May 5th (unless I go into labour before that), courtesy of my devoted husband, who is also a very excited dad.

Yes, we're still around!
I know we haven't posted in a while, so here is a recent photo of Hannah and Noah enjoying the two feet of snow or more that has been dumped on us over the past month. Just before this photo was taken Hannah had gleefully pulled her brother all over the neighbourhood in his new sled given to him by Grandma "B" (Val's Mom Bond). The cries of joy and laughter were infectious. We are blessed to have the gift of our children.
Blessings to our "extended" family,
Chris on behalf of the Powells.
